Canoeing trip 1: A half-day or day trip on the Dronne in Brantome. This tour for beginners is very well organized. After your tour you will get picked up. We can make the reservation for you. More information: www.brantome-canoe.com
Canoeing trip 2: A day trip with a canoe on the Vézère. The tour starts in Montignac and leads 30 km downriver. This is also suitable for beginners. The return transport is provided by the canoe rental.
Canoeing trip 3: A day or more canoeing on the Dordogne. You can start and end your tour wherever you want to, depending on your skills. We can organize this trip for you. The return transport is provided by the canoe rental.
Ultralight flight Near Brantome you have the opportunity to discover the beauty of the Périgord from above. Michel is an experienced pilot and offers flights of various distances. We can make the reservation for you. More information: www.brantome-ulm.fr
Hiking There is a hiking trail from 9,5 km around the dam of Miallet near St Jory de Chalais. If you prefer to hike only 3 km you can go around the Etang de la Barde in La Coquille, only 15 minutes from here. Both lakes offer nice places for having picnic in a beautiful surrounding.
Swimming You can swim in out pool all day long and even at night. In St Saud, only 15 minute from us, there is also a natural bathing and fishing lake of 2 ha.
Fishing Fishing without fishing licence is only possible at our own lake on the campsite. However, it's no problem to get a temporary fishing licence with which you have many possibilities for fishing around here. There is for example a trout lake nearby, where you have to pay a small fee and you can take your caught trouts with you for preparing a nice meal out of them, if you like.
Stone Age Tour Visit the original Font-de-Gaume cave, which offers a variety of engravings and multicoloured paintings (some of them date back to the Magdalenien times, 14 000 years ago). Don't miss this spectacular experience! Nearby there is the stone age park Le Thot and also La Roque St. Christophe. For more informations: www.roque-st-christophe.com
Vineyard Tour Visit the worldfamous town of St. Emilion. St. Emilion is surrounded by many famous vineyards, where you'll have the possibility of a wine testing. On your way back to our campsite you can visit the town of Bergerac with it's picturesque Old Town and the Chateau de Monbazillac. In the Dordogne Valley, which you will come through, you'll also find many vineyards where you can taste and buy the worldfamous wine of this region. (Attention: In France the drink-drive limit is 0,5%)
Castle Tour Visit the castles Puyguilhem and Hautefort. Castle Puyguilhem is an exceptional building and characteristic for the late gothic/early french Renaissance period. Castle Hautefort (fully restored) is surrounded by beautiful gardens whose colours change depending on the season. Hautefort is without a doubt the most stately castel in the Périgod.
Atlantic Ocean Tour Take a day trip to the Atlantic Ocean. After a 2,5 to 3 hours drive you'll reach the cost of Lacanau-Ocean, a place at the Atlantic Ocean with a lot of beaches (we recommend the north beach)
Gouffre Tour Visit the Gouffre de Proumeysac and the town of Limeuil. The Gouffre (french for abysm) de Proumeysac is near the town of Le Bugue and it's the biggest abysm in the Périgord with a lot of breathtaking stalactites and stalacmites (stone formations inside the cave). Not far from the Gouffre there is the town of Limeuil, situated right where the two rivers Vésère and Dordogne flow together. In Limeuil you'll also find traditional handcrafts like glassblowing and others.
Middle Ages Tour 1 Don't miss to visit the mediaeval towns of Sarlat and La Roque Gageac. Sarlat still looks like a town from the middle ages and is the first city in Franch that was put a preservation order on. La Roque Gageac is situated right at the river Dordogne and was build partly into sheer rock walls. Because of it's unusual location this village is called 'one of the most beautiful villages in France'.
Middle Ages Tour 2 Take a look at the fortress Domme and the castle of Beynac. Domme is situated above the Dordogne on a rock. The view on the Dordogne Valley is incredible. Built on the edge of a precipitous rock face there is the castle of Beynac from which you also will enjoy a wonderful view overlooking the Dordogne Valley with it's castles.
Middle Ages Tour 3 Visit the village of Carennac and the Gouffre de Padirac. Even if you are only slightly interested in caves you just have to see the Gouffre de Padirac! You will not only marvel at all those beautiful dropstone but also the subterranean boat trip into the cave is something you'll never forget. Carennac is a romantic and picturesque village situated by the river Dordogne.
High and Low Tour And yet another cave! The Grotte de la Cave! Also this cave you wouldn't want to miss! A train ride takes you several hundert meters into the cave. Then follows a guided tour of 40 minutes in which you'll see marvelous stone formations and even Stone Age painting. After you visited the Grotte de la Cave you can take a rest in Rocamadur, another beautiful Dordogne village.
Cognac Tour Visit the town of Cognac. Here you have the opportunity to visit the production facilities of "Hennessy" and "Napoleon". Don't forget to tast Pineau! It's a mixture of wine and cognac...
Shopping Tour 1 Périgueux: Périgueux has a wonderfully restored historic district you'll certainly like. On wednesdays and saturdays the whole city centre turns into a market place. In Périgueux there are also several big supermarktes.
Shopping Tour 2 Limoges: Limoges also has a nice and partly restored historic district. Along the motorway you'll find big supermarkets. Limoges is also known for it's porcelain manufactures.
Markets In Thiviers (only 12 km from our campsite) there is a well known market where a lot of the farmers from the region sell their stuff. For pictures from Thiviers market click HERE In Jumilhac le Grand there is a market on every sunday, in La Coquille and Excideuil on thursdays, in Périgueux on wednesdays and saturdays and in Brantome on fridays. The markets start in the morning and end at about 12.30
Middle Ages in the neighbourhood! Not far away from our campsite there is the village of St Jean de Cole and the town of Brantome. St Jean de Cole is definitely one of the most beautiful villages in France. Not far from St Jean de Cole there is Brantome with it's abbey. Also Jumilhac le Grand is worth looking at!
Lazy Day Tour Spend the day at our campsite and go swimming in our pool, enjoy the sun, read, sleep, dream, eat some delicious food, drink some refreshing drinks and do absolutely nothing! Just enjoy your holiday!
